20 Years of Dedicated Service
Following on from yesterday’s post about the King’s Award for Voluntary Service and our team leader Chris stepping down, we have more news from our recent AGM at Tregenna Castle.
For the past 20 years, three of our dedicated call-out members have been providing voluntary service to the communities of Cornwall.
Back in 2002, Cornwall Rescue Group was formed. Prior to this, inland rescues in Cornwall were handled by the Dartmoor and Exmoor teams.
In 2006, the CRG was renamed Cornwall Search and Rescue Team (Cornwall SRT), and in 2019 the team expanded further. Continued growth in call-outs led to the formation of two separate teams: West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team and East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team.
When Cornwall SRT was established, Graeme, Paul and Sean were among those who joined. Twenty years later, we had the privilege of recognising their incredible commitment with Mountain Rescue England and Wales Long Service Awards.
Presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, and Chairman of Cornwall Council, Rob Nolan.
We’re also very grateful to Finisterre for generously donating a £150 voucher to each of them.
Congratulations to all three of you – and thank you for your outstanding service! ![]()
