An inspiring guest speaker at our AGM
Last week we held our Annual General Meeting. As well as the formalities and votes, we also invited a guest speaker to give a talk to the team.
During lock-down, Dan Lilley (pictured centre with Search Dog Merryn), noticed many of his male friends were struggling with mental health, which opened his eyes to the massive impact the restrictions had on people’s mental health. Dan was also made aware that Cornwall has the third highest suicide rate in the UK.
Dan decided to start a new adventure and learn to climb some of the world’s tallest and most difficult-to-navigate mountains, with an aim of raising funds and awareness for the charity, Man down – supporting men’s mental health – who provide informal peer-support talking groups all over Cornwall for men with mental health concerns.
It was a great talk, and an inspiration to our team in terms of resilience, dedication and his fundraising achievements.
