Harbour Lights Fundraising Quizzes a ‘Fintastic’ Success
Falmouth’s Harbour Lights Restaurant have been hosting a fifth year of Fundraising Quizzes which have once again seen a superb amount raised for two local charities.
Three quizzes took place, with the final one in March and we’re pleased to announce that £884.60 has been raised. This includes the £493.30 donated by Harbour Lights as well as further funds raised from a raffle at each event. Over 100 people took part across the series which has been a huge success.
The quizzes have been hosted by West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team member, Matthew Stone, who is also the co-founder of Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club. With both charities close to his heart, Matt has been partnering with Harbour Lights Fish & Chips for the past 5 years to host the winter quizzes.
Quizmaster, Matt says, ‘Thanks so much to everyone who attended and raised the vital funds for both West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team and Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club. The team at Harbour Lights have been amazing, and their generosity to support the local community is outstanding to see.’
West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team is a registered charity providing an inland search and rescue service for lost, missing and injured people across West Cornwall, at any time and in any weather.
The team responds to 30-40 incidents a year, and call-outs range from simple evacuations from the moors or woodland, lasting a couple of hours, to extended searches over several days and nights.
They have over 40 volunteer call-out members from all walks of life. Including teachers, carpenters, doctors, engineers, lawyers, brewers and nurses, to name a few. Everyone involved in the charity is a volunteer – they don’t have a single paid member of staff.
