Joint mine rescue training

Joint mine rescue training

We recently carried out some underground training, with a mine rescue drill. Working alongside colleagues from the trauma team at Treliske Hospital we ran two medical scenarios.

Our underground and cas-care specialists were given the opportunity to provide immediate care to the simulated casualties as well as help to extract them to safety through confined spaces.

Mining is central to Cornish history, the landscape being pitted with shafts, some capped, some open. We receive a small number of call-outs every year reporting dogs and people having fallen down mine workings.

West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team is a member of the British Cave Rescue Council – BCRC
