Partnership Post – The RNLI

Over the next few months, we’re going to showcase some of our partner agencies in search and rescue. When we get a call-out, many other colleagues from different organistions can also be involved. Some are paid, and some, like us, are volunteers.

As it’s the weekend of King Charles’ coronation, this is a perfect Royal partner agency to begin with.

1. The RNLI

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, water safety education and initiatives, and flood rescue response.

For any search near the coast (which is pretty common being on a peninsular in West Cornwall), often the RNLI Lifeboats, and sometimes RNLI Lifeguards are also tasked to assist.

They can search from the water, looking inwards towards land so can give a different and unique perspective. The crews can also help to provide safety cover for those searching near to the water – even operating at night.

We are supported by a number of Lifeboat stations in West Cornwall, including:

Falmouth Lifeboat

The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station

Penlee Lifeboat

Sennen Cove Lifeboat Station

St Ives Lifeboat

St Agnes RNLI Lifeboat

Newquay RNLI Lifeboats
