Two newly qualified SRTs
Over two weekends in January and February, some of our team members took part in intensive Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) – MOD3 training alongside colleagues from Plymouth, Ashburton and North Dartmoor Search & Rescue Teams.
We’re incredibly proud to share that Ari and Eric (pictured) successfully qualified as MOD3 Swiftwater Rescue Technicians – a fantastic achievement following two demanding weekends operating in challenging river and flood conditions.
The MOD3 Swiftwater Rescue Technician award is a nationally recognised qualification that enables rescuers to work safely and effectively in fast-flowing and flood water environments. The training covers advanced in-water rescue techniques, tethered swimming, technical rope systems, casualty extraction and dynamic risk assessment in hazardous conditions. Achieving this qualification demonstrates a high level of technical skill, teamwork and resilience in some of the most challenging rescue scenarios we face.
Congratulations to everyone across the teams who passed their SRT/MOD3 qualifications. Training together strengthens our shared capability and ensures we’re ready to respond when our communities need us most.
A huge thank you to the instructors and fellow Mountain Rescue colleagues!
Also, a huge thank you to the East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team for requalifying one of our existing SRTs and delivering CPD sessions for the rest of the team on an earlier course in January. Your continued support and expertise are greatly appreciated.
