Recently, West Cornwall Search and Rescue embarked on an exciting project focused on developing our team values. As a team that constantly strives for continuous improvement and growth, we recognised the importance of identifying the principles that will guide us toward operating at our full potential.

This initiative was a true team effort, where we came together to explore what matters most to us and how we can align our efforts. We believe that defining our team values is crucial, as it provides clarity, strengthens our cohesion, and ensures that we remain focused on our mission – Delivering the highest level of service in the search for and rescue of those who are missing, lost, or injured.

At West Cornwall Search and Rescue, respect isn’t just a value we talk about—it’s something we live and breathe every day. It runs through every aspect of what we do, shaping how we serve the community, how we support each other, and how we come together as a team in moments that demand trust, courage, and unity.

Whether we’re navigating rough terrain on a search, participating in weekly training exercises, or offering support to someone in crisis, we lead with kindness, empathy, and understanding. We approach every person—whether teammate, family member, or someone in distress—with a mindset free from judgment. We believe that every story deserves to be met with compassion and care.

Within our team, we hold deep respect for one another. We recognise that no two people are the same, and that’s exactly what makes us strong.
