SEARCH – Grampound (05-07/09/2019)
A total of 13 team members spent over 12 hours during two phases of a search for a missing male in the Grampound area.
Team controllers initially received an alert from Devon & Cornwall Police just before midnight on Wednesday 4th September, requesting assistance in a developing search. Seven team members joined further resources from East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team and Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England to search extensive areas of woodland and open fields before standing down at 5am.
A team controller then returned to the area at 9:30am on the 5th to discuss further search strategies with the Police search manager, initially deploying a water team to cover areas of the River Fal. As further information came to light, the full team were called out again, with nine members returning to search areas through most of the afternoon. With all priority areas covered and no sign of the missing male, the team stood down at 5pm to return to the base to clean and stow kit.
On the morning of Saturday 7th, team members returned to the Grampound area to continue the search for a missing male, covering further areas of thick woodland alongside East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team. Late afternoon a foot team located a body and our thoughts and condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.
