On Sunday 26th April, the team headed to Carn Brea for our monthly full-day search and rescue exercise (SAREX).

These training days are vital for keeping our skills sharp and giving our newest recruits a real insight into what a callout feels like.

As the exercise was coming to a close, we were approached by a member of the public reporting that a young man had fallen from the rocks near the Basset Monument and sustained injuries. Having just trained for a scenario like this, the team immediately responded.

Casualty care was quickly established, with the patient being protected from further harm, and their condition stabilised while awaiting the arrival of paramedics. Once on scene, the team assisted by carefully stretchering the casualty down to the ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

We’d like to wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
