RESCUE – Penwith Moors (31/08/21)
In the team’s second call-out of the day (info on the first to follow), search managers were contacted by Devon & Cornwall Police and SWAST to attend to an injured horse-rider near to Nine Maidens/Ding Dong Mine on the Penwith Moors.
With Cornwall Air Ambulance and HM Coastguard 924 already tasked elsewhere, we were faced with a potentially lengthy carry-off to the road-head. Thankfully HEMS were re-tasked and the first team members arrived just in time to assist the helo take-off with the casualty safely on board. We wish her a speedy recovery and many thanks to Cornwall Air Ambulance for saving us from a long carry, even with our new lightweight Titan stretcher.
