SEARCH – Bodmin (06/01/24)

Our volunteer call-out team attended their first tasking of the year today. A multi-agency search, assisting East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team in locating a high-risk missing person with dementia.

We were tasked by Devon & Cornwall Police to RV in the Bodmin town area to assist in the on-going search. We worked alongside colleagues from East Cornwall SRT, the Police and four Cornwall based dogs from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (Mac, Teg, Izzy and Merryn – pictured).

During the search of our allocated areas, the missing person was thankfully located by a police foot team and the East Cornwall SRT doctor and paramedic were quickly deployed to the person’s location. She was then transferred to the police station where she was given a full check over. We were stood down at 17.35. A good, collaborative effort by everyone involved.

All of our team members are volunteers. We’re available 24/7, 365 days of the year to assist the emergency services to search for missing, vulnerable and injured people across West Cornwall.

We rely on public donations to operate.
