SEARCH / MINE RESCUE – Todpool (19/06/25)

At 23:58 on Thursday, 19th June, the team was tasked by Devon & Cornwall Police to conduct a search operation for a missing person in the vicinity of Todpool. The search area included local disused mineshafts associated with the Poldice Mine complex.

An initial mobilisation request was issued for the specialist mine rescue team, followed shortly by a full team call-out.

As team members began arriving at the designated rendezvous point (RV) and commenced preparations for technical entry into the disused shafts, an approaching team member was flagged down by a member of the public accompanied by a dog.

The individual disclosed that they had contacted the Police earlier in the evening for assistance, describing their situation and having been lost in the Todpool mine area.

They were transported to the RV and the provided details confirmed that the individual in question was indeed the missing person.

Following this confirmation, the individual was safely transported to their campsite near St Day. A successful outcome.

The team was formally stood down at 01:08.
