SEARCH – Mullion (16/11/23)

At 01:30 this morning, the team were requested by Devon & Cornwall Police to assist with the search of a high-risk missing person in the Mullion area of the Lizard.

The teams covered a number of search areas – working alongside Police, Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team, Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team and the SAR Helicopter. Merryn and her handler, from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England were also in attendance.

There was a yellow weather warning for rain throughout the night, which made the search difficult in often technical and steep ground. After almost 6-hours, all of the requested areas were completed and we were stood down at 06.15 to start the working day. Thanks to our employers and families for being so understanding.

Police are making further investigations.

Our volunteers are drying out kit (and dogs) ready for the next call-out.

All of our team members are volunteers. We’re available 24/7, 365 days of the year to assist the emergency services to search for missing, vulnerable and injured people across West Cornwall.

We rely on public donations to operate.
