SEARCH – Penzance (10/01/2021)

The team were called out late morning by Devon and Cornwall Police after a member of public reported seeing a barefoot and hypothermic female walking in a rural area near Penzance, having said she’d fallen into a local stream.

Despite having no ‘official’ missing person to search for, the team searched residential areas and rights of way in case the female hadn’t made it home or to a place of safety. National Police Air Service and a Police dog team were also deployed to cover more ground. By mid-afternoon we were informed that the female had been located, so team cas-carers were deployed to make an initial medical assessment.

With most of the team stood down, some members continued to search for the female’s belongings in Trevaylor Woods, Once the female had been passed into the care of SWAST, the remaining team members stood down and returned to base to clean and sanitise the vehicles and kit in preparation for the next call-out.

The team has annual running costs in excess of £15,000 but receives no government funding. You can leave a donation here. Thank you.
