Search Dog Merryn and her handler, Matt, responded to a request to assist with the search for a high-risk missing person in South Wales last month.

Working alongside colleagues from Mountain Rescue England and Wales, Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales, Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England and South Wales Police Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend.

A spokesperson from Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said, ‘South Wales Police confirmed a body found was the missing person, and our hearts go out to her family and friends in this difficult time.’

‘We’re profoundly grateful for the unwavering support from our team members’ families, the local community, neighboring MRTs, search dog units, HM Coastguard and NPAS. This collaboration brought the community together in a powerful show of compassion and resilience.’
