SEARCH – St Buryan (04/05/25)
We were requested by Devon & Cornwall Police at 11.00 on Sunday 4th May to assist in the search of a high-risk missing person in the St Buryan area.
Our Search Controller liaised with the Police Lost Person Search Manager on scene and planned the probable areas to be searched.
4 teams searched areas within the village and the surrounding area – including woodland, fields, parks and roadsides. We were backed up by our MR colleagues from East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team and a team from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.
Rescue 924 from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency also joined the search alongside National Police Air Service HQ.
Having searched over 40 areas for 10 hours, we were stood down at 21.30 as Police carried out further inquiries.
One team member tracked that they completed over 20km of searching across the day.
Thankfully, the missing person was located safe and well by Police officers the following morning.
We would like to thank the St Buryan community for their assistance during the search, including the use of the community hall and its facilities.
