SEARCH – St Cleer (04-06/10/2024)

Over the past three days, our team members have been involved in a major search for a missing 79 year old lady in the St Cleer area. We have been supporting East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team and Devon & Cornwall Police.

Our volunteers have been searching within the village as well as countryside and moorland areas. WCSAR team members alone have totaled over 149 volunteer hours since Friday.

Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England and Police Drones have also been in attendance.

An East Cornwall SRT spokesperson says, ‘We have then continued with searches throughout Friday and Saturday, deploying our searchers, water team and search dogs, and working alongside specialist police resources and neighbouring Mountain Rescue Teams from West Cornwall and Plymouth, who have been called to expand the search areas.’

Searches and police enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call 999 quoting police incident number 817 of 3rd October 2024.

We are particularly grateful for the support of local people in sharing the police appeals and checking their own properties and outbuildings. The Lions Club Of Liskeard and Rapid Relief Team UK have been on hand to help searchers by providing much needed food and refreshments to keep us going through the long days and nights – thank you!
