SEARCH – St Just in Roseland (21/03/23)

We were contacted by Devon & Cornwall Police at 14:45 on Tuesday to join a search for a missing male in the St Just in Roseland area of Truro.

15 team members searched until past nightfall in deteriorating conditions, eventually standing down at 20.30. We worked alongside Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team, Portscatho Coastguard Rescue Team, Falmouth Lifeboat, Police dog handlers and the Police NPAS helicopter. Team members, Merryn and Matt, also assisted with the search as part of Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England. A large amount of areas were covered including farmland and woods on very steep and difficult ground.

We were re-tasked to continue searching areas the following day (Wednesday 22nd March), where a body of a man was located by one of our search teams. We worked with the Police and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service to access the site and conduct a carry-out to the nearby roadhead.

Everyone at West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team shares our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Thank you to everyone at the King Harry Ferry for allowing our team members and their cars to travel across to the Roseland over the two days, as well as Police and Coastguard vehicles. It is very much appreciated.
