Last Thursday our team members were out training at Tehidy Woods. We were running an exercise, searching for a missing person in the woodland.

As the training was commencing, we were contacted by Devon & Cornwall Police to assist in the search for an actual, high-risk missing person in the vicinity of Tehidy Woods. As we were already on scene, it didn’t take us long to mobilise and commence the search of woodland and rural areas.

20 volunteer Call-out Members searched for over four hours. We were assisted by Maritime and Coastguard Agency colleagues, a dog team from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England and Rescue 924.

Thankfully, the missing person was located by a member of the public safe and well, just outside of our allocated search area.

We were stood down at 00.30.
